Become A Mentor
Interested in Becoming a Mentor?
Jennifer Benner teaches girls about skin care and a system for brushing teeth that not only prevents but repairs cavities.
Many people feel inspired by the Incense program and would like to get involved to help. You do not have to have a PhD to become a mentor. You just have to ask yourself this question:
Is there something you know now that you wished someone had told you when you were a teenager?
We are always eager to welcome volunteers from our community to come
lead special projects and educational presentations for the girls on
Wednesdays from 3:00/3:30pm - 4:30pm.
(Presentations may be 1 - 1.5 hours long)
If you have something to share in regards to Nutrition, Health, Fitness, Body Image, Music, Dance, Art, Goal-Setting, Finances, or your career or hobby, please email [email protected]. Perhaps you represent a company that makes something really special you would like to share about. If you have a special skill that you have been able to turn into a business- that is an inspirational story to be able to share with young girls and we would love to meet you.
Currently we are looking for mentors for these topics:
Self Defense
(how to avoid a confrontation in the first place by neutralizing a situation- it is also beneficial to be aware of intelligent ways to protect yourself from harm should you ever find your safety being threatened)
Finances
(budgeting, investing, saving, balancing a checkbook, etc.)
Anatomy/Muscles
(in dance it is important to have good knowledge of the muscles we are using to motivate certain movements for safety and precision- in the beginning it is nice to have an expert share what these muscles look like, where they are & what they do)
Hair/ Stylist or enthusiast
(these ARE girls after all, and whether vocationally this is an interest or simply for stage- tips on proper maintenance, fun ideas for styles, legend & lore, fact & fiction, tips & tricks are appreciated)
Skin/Dermatologist
(we are looking for someone with scientific knowledge of the skin to help give girls good advice about protecting and caring for their skin, especially in regards to what they can do to prevent blemishes, skin cancer, etc.)
If you don't see your area of expertise on this list, don't be discouraged- just email [email protected] or call 808 854-1270 and tell us your idea for a presentation or project. On occasion we can supply the materials needed for your presentation but if you can supply materials as a donation to the program that is always deeply appreciated.
